Offroad camping – have I got everything?

Every camping trip always comes down to the same nagging question, do I have everything? Is this enough? As much as we want to have a carefree adventure and go where the road doesn’t take us, it’s always great to feel prepared to tackle any problems that arise. And the last thing we want for problems are items we have purchased for camping trips that fail the first time, or cannot withstand the rugged overlanding experience.

So, Ryan and Kristina have compiled a few of their favourite problem solvers and luxury durable overlanding must-haves to make your next trip a success and carefree one.

Essential #1: coffee!

Kristina’s #1 favourite is the OXX CoffeeBoxx as she cannot go a day without a delicious cup of coffee in the morning! Not only will this brew a great cup of coffee, it will dispense hot water for tea drinkers and morning oatmeal eaters. This durable coffee maker is great to tote around as it is lightweight and can withstand all types of elements. The water tank is also sealed to keep dust and debris out. It’s made to withstand a harsh construction lifestyle, making this one hard-working coffee maker that will keep up with your off road experience.

Essential #2: cold storage

Another big favourite of ours is the brand new ARB Elements Fridge. This huge 63QT fridge freezer holds a lot of food and beverages, keeping you well stocked for days. This fridge was designed to be mounted in the bed of a truck and to withstand 365 days of all weather. It’s also designed to stay cold when not hooked up to a power source for close to 36 hours. This portable fridge can be mounted in the back of your jeep on an ARB fridge slide. With a cutting board thrown on top it also becomes a neat table, making food preparation a breeze. Sometimes your adventure is far too enjoyable to leave, so being well prepared with food and a fridge that can handle the extra few days’ supplies is key to more relaxation time.

Essential #3: a comfortable camping chair

Most people think they are forever stuck with an awful camping chair, replacing it year after year with the same awful quality. Well, no more! The ARB Air Locker Camping chair will redefine how you feel sitting around the campfire. With its super sturdy alloy frame, padded seat and back rest, and drink holder tray, you will be fighting your friends off this chair! It has a 265lb weight rating, making this seat a must for every campfire outing.

Essential #4: top tools

The next two items are something that everyone should have on them at all times, and are essentials for wheeling or overlanding, the Smittybilt Tire repair kit, and the Smittybilt 10-1 Compact Tool. Ryan has gotten everything from nails in tires on paved roads, to tree branches wedged between his wheel and tire on a trail, so its always good to have a tire repair kit on hand. This compact tool is something that every 4×4 enthusiast should carry in their glove compartment, as it has everything from pliers to knives, and the most essential item of all, a bottle opener! These well built and well thought out tools are key items to have when traveling.
